Yes, shadow shades your infantry. See image below, two guys in shade behind main guy.

Can we expect a rat chat in the "soonish" future regarding the features of 1.31 and what lies beyond?

It all looks very nice. Very nice indeed.

Rag doll physics...weather... yeah yeah great.

Now, stuff I need to say:
This looks like an opportunity to address a few issues?

1/ Para entry to Spawn Points both in town (by landing on roof) and Forward Bases. A chance to design this out? Either that or allow it. Please resolve this once and for all.

2/ Para entry to the new CP looks possible? As designed?

3/ Will the new CPs be able to be demolished (either by HE or with satchel charge?) As designed?

4/ New Pill Boxes - where are the LMG anchor points? On the sill? If so they are still an LMG death trap (for the LMG gunner I mean!)
Please have the anchor point back from the slit ( the gun barrel should not protrude) AND give the LMG gunner some means of cover!
Any chance a standing LMG gunner (with anchored gun) can use either the lean function or the crouch function to duck so that he is not simply sniper bait?
How about giving sappers the ability to plug holes with a 'sandbag pack'?

Other than that - good work and I look forward to seeing how it plays!

Nice one RATS.

S!

I've heard from sources that the castle is more of 'An estate with a wall'.

I've got alot of curiosities, but how about this one:

Stairs!

I really hope one of the newer screenshots released contained some actual steps. Kind of a smaller detail I admit, but since this patch is predominantly about prettyness and immersion, I believe it would fit well and give some drool factor.

All these new pictures and videos looks great. Good job CRS!!!

Any info about how much it hurt fps?

About clouds/rain etc. I have bad feeling that all these new weather things(although they're good) kill the game for those last few people still try to use bombers for level bombing attacks, and we all see gliders almost exlusively. As well as strafers will be safer under those massive rain clouds.

Rag doll:

It seems to me, watching the soldier sliding down the roof, that all surfaces act like oiled.

Kinda like "slippery when dead".

There is too much sliding around, i think. Looks a bit artificial.

Over all: Well done. B+

Maybe the roof don't give perfect friction for a dead body dressed in a uniform. But that is a pretty step roof, so for being an early beta, and the first efforts with Ragdoll effect do at least I think it looks far better then I ever dreamed for.

Maybe after some tweeking is CRS able to add some friction to the roofs making the dead bodies slide off slower, and maybe even start rolling down the roof, instead of just sliding. But that can't be a high priority consider everything else we want to see in the game.

Like Parachuting dogs and Snipers, riding on motorcycles. :)

What I'd like to see, or rather hear, is the damping effects of structures on sounds. With this I mean that when you are inside e.g. aircraft you will not hear much of those high frequencise, only the lower ones.

That would mean that you would hear explosions, thunder clap, or rain drops differently depending on if you were inside a building with a vent, i.e. open window or other opening which dampens some higher frequencies but lets some in due to ventilation as opposed to a tank or aircraft which should have quite a lot of damping due to unvented structure (cockpit/ hatch closed).

I think that this frequency based approach already affects the sound of explosions that are near or very far away so that smaller caliber explosions die away quite quickly but you can still hear low pitched booms of larger caliber rounds exploding. I think this is actually just a result of utilizing correctly the later versions EAX functionality.

-C+

Ed. what about morning mist, fog effects etc? ->Ah, ok. "Dynamic clouds/fog/lighting settings"

1.31 is looking very nice .... But i got a radial cutter queston. Why should you enable it if you see less enemy?? Will this option still be selectable in 1.31?
